Sacred texts: the tipitaka and buddhism
This series examines the sacred texts of the world's six main faiths. It looks at how the texts were compiled or written, their message and teachings, and how people use the texts in their daily lives and worship.
Buddhists follow the teachings of the Buddha, or the "enlightened one." They use the Buddha's teachings as a guide for living better and happier lives. These teachings are known as the dhamma. They are found in the many hundreds of texts which make up the sacred texts of Buddhism.

Better than a hundred useless poems
is one single poem that brings peace."
