The Kiwi Bites series are pitched at young readers (7-12) with the aim of building reading skills and confidence. They have strong plot-based stories, with themes of humour, confidence, sport, adventure, caring, journeys and problem-solving. Arnie is prescribed spectacles to wear for a year or two. However, he thinks only losers wear specs and refuses to wear them. After bumping into lamp-posts and knocking over signs, Arnie somehow manages to become a hero - several times over!
