Rufus the red kangaroo
The story of a red kangaroo and it's life in the hot dry regions of desert around Ayers Rock.
Rufus hopped as quickly as he could across the dry red earth and jumped head-first into his mother's pouch before she knew what he was doing.
His mother tried to push him out, quite gently, because he was too big to fit into the pouch any longer. He was almost eight moths old and it was time he hopped on his own four legs. Yet Rufus was like all young joey kangaroos. He wanted to stay in the pouch just as long as he could. As long as someone was willing to carry him, he would prefer to ride.
