It's the day of the Golden Kites. Little Ho travels to the Palace Gardens to watch the noblemen fly their magnificent kites. When the Great Lord Emperor comes to choose the best one, Little Ho dares to produce his own small kite. Will the soldiers strike him down? But the boy's courage and love of life win him a suprising new friend.

Mavis Scott is a writer and storyteller from Queensland who works closely with children when developing her stories.
Pat Reynolds is a painter and illustrator from Victoria whose work explores many styles and techniques. The pictures for this book were made from cut tissue paper.
