Text
A legend of kiwi
Some of Ron Bacon's Maori stories are set in pre-historical times. This one goes back to the dawn of Ao-te-a-roa when the god Tane brought life to the face of the land. It is an imaginative concept, and though some liberties have been taken with biological facts, and some of the insects may not be immediately identifiable, we have provided a pictorial key at the end to most of the creatures depicted.
After all, who knows just what strange things were crawling and flying around in those far off days?
